Grading Scale

Grade point average is determined by totaling all grade points earned and dividing by the number of credits attempted. Letter grades are given in all courses taken with the following values:

A = 90-100 
B = 80-89 
C = 70-79 
D = 60-69 
F = 0-59

Beginning with the 9th grade class of 2007/2008, the following grading scale will be used: A=4 points, B=3 points, C=2 points, D=1 point and F=0 points.

  • Courses receiving weighted values are: AP U.S. History, AP U.S. Government, AP English 12, AP Statistics, AP Calculus, LFCC Dual Enrollment - on campus and Mountain Vista Governor's School.
  • Weighted courses utilize the following grading scale: A=5 points, B=4 points, C=3 points, D=1 point, F=0 points.

Skyline High School also offers various vocational classes at its Blue Ridge Career and Technical Centered located on Luray Avenue, Front Royal, Virginia.
