Scheduling

Spring 2017 Scheduling Information for 2017-2018 School Year

 

First, please read the letter below from your Counselor's regarding scheduling.

As you make your selections, please refer to the WCPS 2016/2017  Program of Studies.

 

For examples of typical schedules for each grade level, please refer to scheduling examples sheet.

  

For grade specific course choices, please refer to links below for each grade level.

This should be done ASAP as this access to scheduling will be closed at 3:00 p.m. on March 20, 2016. After this point, you will no longer be able to select/change courses for the next school year. However, you will be able to view your courses selected for next year and this year’s current information.

 

 

Students who do not have computer access at home, are able to use the library computers during flex. Counselors will be checking course selections for next year during the last week of March and the first week of April. We will be checking to make sure students completed their schedules with the proper selections. Teachers will also be giving their recommendations as well. Counselors will put in a schedule for any student who did not put course selections in the computer.

 

Changes are not to be made when students pick up schedules in August, or at the end of 1st semester in January 2017. Thank you!

To Students and Parents,

Once again this year, students will complete their scheduling requirements for 2017/2018 online through Power School via Parent Access. If you have already created an account with your own username and password, the same account can be used year after year. If you need to create a new account, please follow these steps: Go to Skyline’s webpage (www.wcps.k12.va.us/shs) and select ‘Parent Access’ under the ‘Parents’ tab or go to: https://powerschool.wcps.k12.va.us Click on ‘Create Account’ Fill out the fields under ‘Create Parent/Guardian Account’. You will create your own username and password using your name (Parent’s Name) under the ‘Create Parent/Guardian Account’.  Access Power School scheduling once you are logged into your account (page 1 & 2)  As you make your selections, please refer to the WCPS Program of Studies found at http://www.wcps.k12.va.us/index.php/students/program-of-studies

 

For examples of typical schedules for each grade level, please refer to ‘scheduling examples sheet’ which are also found on the website. Grade specific course choices are listed online. Your student’s course selection should be done ASAP, as this access to scheduling will only be open from March 4th – March 20th. After this point, you will no longer be able to select/change courses for the next school year electronically. However, you will be able to view your courses selected for next year and this year’s current information. We will be checking to make sure students completed their schedules with the proper selections. Teachers will also be giving their recommendations for students to counselors. Counselors will put in a schedule for any student who did not put course selections in the computer.
